It is with deep regret that we as OCCA KZN Committee have to inform you that Ken Marx has passed away on the 9t of April 2020 at the age of 76.

Ken joined OCCA in 2003. He was a stalwart for OCCA KZN and was always eager to do present informative presentation of cutting edge technical developments.

He will be particularly remembered for his presentations and practicals on Ultrasonic Dispersion and informative talks on Silicate Paints.

Ken and his wife Audi were always happy to join in the fun an dancing at the end of the year functions.

Ken was a long-standing member in the Coatings Industry and was involved in lecturing at students at SAPITI for a number of years alongside Les Fisher, Ken von Benecke and Reg Hoddidot.

Ken was always involved 100% in whatever project he tackled.

He will be sorely missed by all his friends At OCCA. May you rest in peace Ken.

Coatings for Africa 2020, the largest exhibition and symposium for the paint and coatings sectors in Africa, has been postponed until June 2 to 4 next year.

The biennial event, staged by DMG Events, in partnership with The Oil & Colour Chemists’ Association (OCCA) and the South African Paint Manufacturing Association (SAPMA), and was scheduled to be staged at the Sandton Convention Centre from May 6 to 8 this year. Due to the COVID 19 restrictions on both mass gatherings as well as international travel, it was decided to postpone the event until 2021. The venue will remain Sandton Convention Centre.

Over 1400 participants from 35 countries (including 12 from Africa) attended Coatings for Africa 2018 where 32 industry experts addressed 210 conference delegates.
